Rather than chasing something directly, consider attracting it into your life.

Be the person who would have what you wish to have. Be the person who can live the life you wish to live.

When you chase after anything, whether it is a relationship, money, a job or anything else, it can be quite frustrating. Because you are focusing on something external to yourself, over which you have very little control.

Instead, focus on what you can control, on what you can build and grow and improve in yourself. That is the quickest and most reliable way to bring results.

Whatever it is that you desire, give it a warm and welcoming place to exist within you. The good things in life will flow into places where they are appreciated and put to good use.

Imagine your most treasured dream in every detail, and then set about to be the person who can truly experience it.
A letter on Faith from Tyler Perry

Tyler Perry is one of my personal heros. He came up from a very abusive childhood, a po' life in young adulthood and is now a millionaire due to his unwavering faith that he could do and be better through God. He went from "rags to riches" with his amazing plays and now movies and television series. For myself, he truely embodies the "life isn't about finding yourself, it's about creating yourself" philosophy.
http://www.tylerperry.com/_About/

The reason that I'm writing is this. When we won the Image Award for
HOUSE OF PAYNE, I said something that I didn't know I had said until I
watched the show played back that night. I said that if 1000 people tell
you no and you get one yes from God then that's all you need to make it.

That thing woke up something in me. I realized at that moment that I had
had a lot of NO's in my life. I had a lot of people say, "You can't!" and
"You never will!" I had a lot of doubters and hardly anybody ever said
that I could. And through the hardest times in my life I had to learn how
to encourage myself. And I want to tell you that if nobody else will
encourage you then encourage yourself.

If you have a dream, keep working towards it. It's great to have people
give you awards and appreciate what you do, but back in the day, it wasn't
that way at all. I remember when I was broke and working a dead end job
clearing about 300 dollars a week. This wasn't long ago at all, as a
matter of fact.

What I would do though was on my lunch break I would spend the time
writing down play ideas, writing down movie ideas, planning a tour for my
pla y, looking at maps of the country, calling theaters. I knew that I had
ideas that would move people--that would help them in one way or another,
so I just kept going. I didn't have a dime to my name. I didn't know how
I was going to get there, but I knew that I would in some way. And then
God made a way.

And look, when I would really get down I used to go out to the nicest
neighborhoods and go to open houses and just look at them and believe. I
would put on my nicest closes and go out and test drive the finest cars.
Now I know that these are material things but this is about an exercise in
faith.

In order to get to your dreams you have to see yourself there. You have to
see yourself doing better. Use your mind to see yourself doing better. The
Bible says, "As a man thinketh, so is he." Stir up the gift in you. People
are waiting for your dream to come to pass. Don't give up. I often think
about all the times I wanted to give up. I thought about how hard it was
and how much I was going through. I look at my life now and I say to
myself, "Boy I'm glad you kept going!" What if I would have stopped, can
you imagine? No plays, no movies, no Madea, not even this email. Again,
God has given us all gifts and if you give up on your dreams then the
world will never know. We're waiting for you!

God bless...Live well,

Tyler Perry

I am very much in support of EFT (you can search some of my past posts on it here: http://saymorre.livejournal.com/tag/eft) it has helped me with food cravings, anxiety and various stressors in my life.

Make sure you join the forums as well: http://www.mckenna.com/forum
I want to mention that I don't agree fully with one of the techniques on there which states "When you think you are full, STOP eating" I don't believe people should eat until FULL. I believe they should eat until satisfied - as in satisfying actual hunger. There is no need to make yourself "full" or stuffed. I haven't watched his program yet so I'm not sure if he explains full as the stuffed feeling or as the satisfied feeling (some people use the terms in the same context though they are not the same in my opinion.)

I do agree with the others:
1. When you are hungry eat - one has to actually know what physical hunger is to achieve this.
2. Eat what you want, not what you think you should - I agree. Depriving yourself will end up in a binge of some form or another, but this ties in with the first one. You have to be physically hungry, not emotionally.
3. Eat consciously and enjoy every mouthfull - this is the one that ties it in together. This has been very helpful to me.

Have an amazing week!

To aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time. This person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away. Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Some people come into your life for a SEASON, because your turn has come to share, grow or learn. They bring you an experience of peace or make you l augh. They may teach you something you have never done. They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy. Believe it, it is real. But only for a season.

LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons. Things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation. Your job is to accept the lesson. Love the person and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life. You must follow your dream. You will never be joyful if you don't. Your dream may change, but you've got to stay after your dreams. You have to.
Excerpted from a workshop in Asheville, NC on Sunday, May 1st, 2005

This is exactly why we have terms like "starving artist." Don't ever let someone else stomp on your dreams! Even if it was someone from long ago - say a parent or grandparent. You're older and wiser now and you should realize that what they said "back then" was because they knew no better.
Positive Thinking: What I Know For Sure

In the spirit of good, inspired by my favorite gal Oprah, I would like to share something that resonated with me as I meditated this morning and felt the urge to share. It may be something some of you already know - perhaps it is time to remeber it. Or, it may be something you don't know - if that is the case, then so be it.

What I know for sure about positive thinking is that once you start - there is no turning back. You will always have this tap on the shoulder from your inner self reminding you to look for that better thought. The first step in changing your thoughts is to first be aware of them. It is impossible to keep track of every thought that you have, but just beginning to realize the thoughts - which are usually on autopilot can greatly help you to develop healthier thinking habits.

Once you've reached that accomplishment - which usually takes most people 1-7 days - because as I said earlier - once you start - there is no turning back - in any part of this process. You may forget for awhile - or you may not be ready. It's ok. It's a process. Your mental script has been with you for so long that you most likely accept it to be true - whether it is or not.

The next thing that I know for sure about positive thinking is that when you become aware of your thoughts - positive or negative - you are then in a place to change them to suit you better. That script that runs in your head has most likely been running for a very long time. But you have the ability to edit the parts that no longer suit you and add to them parts that bring you joy.

My favorite way to do this is to imagine that the scripts I am saying - I am saying to someone I love. Whatever thoughts I am thinking I tell myself Would I say these things to someone I love? I can even turn it into How would I feel if someone I loved talked to me like that? In no way do I get defensive or try to make myself feel like a bad person - it's all about learning about yourself and being willing to change. For some - it is easy - they wonder Why haven't I done this all along? And the reason for this is - because you didn't know any better. Everyone does the best with what they know - whether it's for a percieved "good" or "bad" reason.

What I know for sure is that we all do our best with what we know - not what we know for sure. Do you know for sure that you're not good enough to get a better job? Well with that type of thinking - do you think someone is going to want to hire you anyways? Would you hire yourself based on purely your thoughts about your own work ethic? You can apply this to any part of your life - big or small.

A little exercise you can do when you have 10 minutes to sit and write is to write down 3 things about your self and your life that you know for sure. Here's the catch - if it's a negative thing like I'm a fat pig. I want you to think about whether that is something you know for sure or whether you just assume that - then turn it around and write something positive. The best thing about this is you can pick anything you know for sure. I have great legs is a great start if that rings true to you.

Namaste.

She has came so far and hasn't lost her footing. She's grounded and amazing. She inspires me to keep going. The energy and emotion she put's into her singing and performances are amazing.

Beyonce: This <strike>girl</strike> woman is beautiful and talented to boot. If I could "be" someone else for a day - I would be her. She has so much energy and I love her humble way. I love her off stage as well as on as Sasha (her stage charactor)! She is confident and I love her music - it's original and you can tell it comes from her experiences. She has this funky fresh-hip-hop-soul thing going on. I swear she came from old Hollywood or something. She gives her all to everything she does. And she's dating Jay-Z heelllllooo. I love him - he can rap about me anyday lol.

Speaking of which, I looooove this song!! Welcome to Hollywood Jay Z featuring Beyonce *sings* It's the lights... satisfaction... Hollywooood I love how they (so often in their music) sing about how they are rich, famous and in the glamours life; but they haven't forgotten where they came from. They try not to take themselves so damn seriously. They were made for eachother!

Oh and here is Alicia Keys and John Mayer. They are beautifully talented as well! And to those of you hating on Alicia and her "new" sound - she still "sounds" amazing to me! I saw her live in a small setting when she first came out and was BLOWN away. She can sang! Yes I said sAng with an "a." I was up close and personal - so close to the stage I could reach up and pull out her keyboard if I had wanted. She will become a legend... trust.

Since manifest_now just had to provoke me... Here is the lovely Jill Scott with her new(?) track My Love. Jillie has such a kindred soul. Her voice and lyrics give me this "I ain't taking no sh*t from noone" (in a nice way) kind of attitude lol. She just got that "something special" about her. It's like her music makes her feel almost as good as it makes her listeners feel. I dunno - can't exactly put it into words!

Off to dance to "Hollywood" xoxo

Some emails are worth sharing...

If you see this lady turning in clockwise you are using your right brain.
If you see it the other way, you are using left brain.
Some people do see both ways, but most people see it only one way.

See if you can make her go one way and then the other by shifting the brain's current.
BOTH DIRECTIONS CAN BE SEEN

Experimentation has shown that the two different sides, or hemispheres, of the brain are responsible for different manners of thinking. The following table illustrates the differences between left-brain and right-brain thinking:

Right Brain: random, intuitive, holistic, synthesizing, subjective, looks at wholes.
Left Brain: logical, sequential, rational, analytical, objective, looks at parts.

Most individuals have a distinct preference for one of these styles of thinking. Some, however, are more whole-brained and equally adept at both modes. In general, schools tend to favor left-brain modes of thinking, while downplaying the right-brain ones. Left-brain scholastic subjects focus on logical thinking, analysis, and accuracy. Right-brained subjects, on the other hand, focus on aesthetics, feeling, and creativity.
